This is the message which we have heard from Jesus and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

Truth Revealed Through Light
One of the lessons that I learned in my law practice of 18 years is that different people in the same occurrence or experience have different versions of the “truth” of what happened. Their version is “their truth.” I practiced in a variety of areas of law, one of which was family law. The families needed representation for severe dysfunction that was resulting in separation and, possibly, divorce. They defensively hid their part that corrupted the marital relationship by covering up their true role in a cloak of darkness. Adulterated “facts” held lies marinated in the darkness of deceit. Both sides tended to lie to protect their interests in the outcome of the case. While trying to defensively hide their part in causation, they believed that the light of truth would obstruct their desired outcomes gained through darkness. I had to extensively search for the “truth” as I sifted through the many individual, defensive lies on both sides. In each legal case, any duly diligent attorney seeks many, varied sources, turning over every stone, to discover the “truth” that accurately tells the real story. As each stone is overturned, light shed on uncovered spaces reveals more and more of the truth.
Pursuing the real story is the only way to solving real problems — the only way to reach wise and fair resolutions. Seeking light in the darkness of problematic relationships is the one true way to reach an equitable result for all concerned. Diligent pursuit of the truth is the only way to shed LIGHT on the accurate facts of the case. Love between the parties may not return, but real, true justice for everyone shines in a new light of a new cleansing day. Peace with newly found cooperation, or even friendship, can then revive a once destroyed connection. Light in truth reveals. Light in truth heals. Light in truth restores lives. Light in truth overcomes and cleanses us from dark, regrettable misgivings. LIGHT IS TRUTH! Living in Truth is good for everyone!
Pure Light Is Truth Where Darkness Cannot Hide
And, so it goes that steadfastly living in TRUTH is the only way to live in the light of loving, peaceful, sustaining, nurturing, satisfying, and long lasting fellowship or relationships with others. It keeps us connected the way that God intended from the beginning before darkness filled the world. Darkness cannot invade our families, friendships, and fellowships where light shines. The darkness of deceit cannot hide where the light of truth prevails. The Light of Truth lifts our spirits and nurtures our souls. It establishes the matrix for lasting love and strongly secured interrelatedness. It is the only way to maintain peace in and between our lives and those of others. It is the “but for” principle of living: “but for” light where no dishonesty, lies, distrust, or deceit rest and thrive, there would be no true, loving, and lasting peace with others. The LIGHT of TRUTH keeps us clearly focused on what really matters — the goodness and well-being of others.
Live and Walk in the Pure Light of Truth
We are not islands unto ourselves, but called to universally live in loving relationship with others while here on earth. We must not darken our lives with defensive moves sprung by lies and deceit, but search for well lit and unclouded visions of things outside our parameters of self interest. In light, we must magnify the importance of the needs of others. We must gain an exterior focus that searches for inclusivity, harmony, and peaceful fellowship with each and every person through an unobstructed looking glass of lit, highly explored truth. Exterior and accurate focus is enhanced by pure light. Pure light is paramount in order to brighten our paths with the lamp of true, honest living that leads to loving and nurturing relationships. The darkness of deception and lies cannot exist when uncovered by pure light. Let us then walk in the pure light of truth! Living in truth, let us love one another free from entanglement with impurity, as we walk God’s bright path of true cooperation and fellowship! And in doing so, we may in Truth catch up with God the Father and Jesus the Pure Light to live and walk in fellowship with the Word, Himself!
As 1 John 1:5-7 tells us, Jesus Christ is the pure light of truth that leads the way to pure living! In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Let us then be wise through God’s Word and Way by walking with the Light of Truth. It surely is the way to a brighter, more hopeful, and more satisfying life in strong, lasting, pure, and loving relationships with others and God! It surely is the way to eternal life with the Father!
